SCHOLARSHIP (Closed for 2012) WINNERS ANNOUNCED (SEE BELOW)
Description:	This scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior to recognize scholastic ability and achievement, contributions to the community and a desire to pursue a career in education.
Sponsor:	Lake County Retired Teachers Association
Value:	Two (2) scholarships of $1000 each will be awarded in the spring of 2012 for the 2011-2012 school year.  Each will be payable after the successful completion of one semester of college studies
Eligibility:	Applicant must attend a Lake County public high school Applicant must supply two (2) letters of recommendation: one from a high school faculty member and the other from an adult who is not a relative, familiar with the applicant's participation in the community. Applicant must write an essay on “Why they want a career in education. Submit a list of school and community activities Application must be received by the stated deadline.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE Submit a completed application, including the essay and list of activities. Submit the two letters of recommendation, and a copy of your high school transcript. Return the completed application, recommendations, and transcripts to your school counselor by Monday, March 1, 2012. The Lake County Retired Teachers Association must receive the completed application by Friday, March 9, 2012. Winners will be notified by May 1, 2012.

 

The LCRTA Scholarship winners for 2012 are: Alexandra Costa, Lake H. S., who will major in Special Education Madeleine Bartsch, Vernon Hills H. S., who will major in English Education.

The winners will be invited to the June 12, 2012 luncheon meeting of the LCTRA.
